On Thursday, July 3, 2025, Archbishop Anne Germond preached at the King’s School Service of Commemoration of Benefactors at Canterbury Cathedral.

This annual service gathered the King’s School community to give thanks for the vision and generosity of benefactors, and to send forth students into the next chapter of their lives with a blessing of faith and hope.

Preaching in Canterbury—this sacred place of pilgrimage and prayer—Archbishop Anne offered a message that spoke powerfully to the graduates and to all present. Her sermon invited listeners to reflect deeply on the choices we make in life and the call to live with courage, love, and faithfulness in an ever-changing world.

Two excerpts from the sermon have been shared as video highlights:

🎥 1. You Are Loved

“You are loved. You are chosen. You are my friends. Abide in my love.”
This beautiful reflection on identity in Christ reminds us that, in a world that often measures us by achievement, we are already enough in the eyes of God.

🎥 2. Choose Hope

Between two words, choose the quieter one. Between word and silence, choose listening. Between hope and despair, choose hope—it will be harder to bear.” (from Decisions by Boris A. Novak, translated by Mia Dintinjana)

In this moving conclusion to her sermon, Archbishop Anne draws on these poetic words to offer timeless wisdom for life’s crossroads. It’s an encouragement not only for graduates but for all of us seeking God’s guidance as we step into new seasons.
