The Diocese of Algoma is pleased to announce that, God willing, Benjamin (Ben) Paul will be ordained to the Sacred Order of Deacons on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. at St. Luke’s Cathedral.
Ben currently serves as a postulant in the Diocese of Algoma and has been engaged in parish ministry in the Deanery of Algoma, including service at Church of the Redeemer, Thessalon, and St. Luke’s Cathedral.
Ben lives in Elliot Lake with his family, where he also works full-time as a mental health counsellor with the Counselling Centre of East Algoma.
Originally from Bangalore, Ben came to Canada in 2018 with his wife, who pursued theological studies at Wycliffe College. His own vocational journey has been shaped by both professional counselling and a longstanding sense of call to pastoral ministry. In recent years, he has also helped lead pastoral visiting training within the diocese, equipping lay leaders for ministries of care and presence.
The ordination will be presided over by Archbishop Anne Germond. Additional details, including the preacher for the service, will be shared once confirmed.
Please hold Ben and his family in your prayers as he prepares for this joyful and significant step in ordained ministry. All are welcome to attend.
