Wild Ride 2025 – Be a Light for Change
“And God said, ‘Let there be light… and that light was good.’” – Genesis 1:3
This September, Thunder Bay-North Shore Deanery Anglicans are once again joining the national Wild Ride fundraiser for Alongside Hope. Now in its fourth year, the Wild Ride is supporting a vital new initiative: bringing solar suitcases to rural health clinics in Mozambique and Madagascar.
A solar suitcase is a bright yellow case mounted inside a clinic and connected to a solar panel on the roof. Inside are portable lights, a headlamp, a fetal Doppler, and phone chargers—all powered by clean, renewable energy. For women giving birth at night, and for the medical attendants who care for them, the difference is life-changing. Safe deliveries become possible where previously there was only darkness.
The national goal for 2025 is to raise $320,000—enough to install 49 solar suitcases (35 in Mozambique and 14 in Madagascar). Each one costs $6,500, which is the Thunder-Bay North Shore Deanery team goal.
For the Thunder Bay–North Shore Deanery Lights, this year’s Wild Ride has a special meaning. The ride is being held in thanksgiving for Archbishop Anne’s ministry as Acting Primate. To mark the occasion, the deanery will host a Walk and Celebration in Thunder Bay on Saturday, September 27, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm.
Participants will gather at Hillcrest Park and walk together to St. Michael’s Anglican Church, where everyone—walkers and non-walkers alike—is invited to stay for refreshments and fellowship. It promises to be a joyful event, bringing together the community for fun and for a purpose that extends far beyond our own borders.
You can support the deanery team, whether or not you’re able to join in person.

Together, as Algoma Anglicans, we can help bring life-giving light to mothers, babies, and communities in Mozambique and Madagascar. One suitcase, one clinic, one safe birth at a time.
