This Sunday, November 30, Archbishop Anne Germond will make her official visit to St. Luke’s Cathedral, Sault Ste. Marie, where she will preside and preach on the First Sunday of Advent. During this visit, Archbishop Anne will also unveil her 2026 Episcopal Motto, offering the diocese a first glimpse of the theme that will guide our common life in the year ahead.

Her 2025 motto — “With joy we will draw deeply from the wells of salvation” (Isaiah 12:3) — invited Algoma to return again and again to the source of our strength. In her Charge to Synod earlier this year, Archbishop Anne reflected on how joy is not something we manufacture, but something that “just shows up when we’re together,” naming the deep gladness she witnesses across the diocese in worship, ministry, and community life. That motto has grounded us through a year marked by both challenge and resilience, reminding us to keep drinking from the well of God’s goodness.

As we enter Advent and prepare for a new liturgical year, the question naturally arises: Where will 2026 take us? What new direction will the Archbishop’s motto invite us to explore? How will the themes of joy, hope, and shared ministry continue to evolve?

The unveiling on Sunday will offer a prayerful orientation to the year ahead — a moment of grounding, anticipation, and renewed purpose for the wider diocese.

Those unable to attend in person are warmly invited to join online.
St. Luke’s Cathedral will livestream the service on their YouTube channel:
