As the calendar turns toward another summer season, preparations are already underway at Camp Manitou. From capital improvements to leadership transitions and a full slate of summer programming, the camp continues to be sustained by a deep and faithful community.
Gratitude and Momentum
The launch of Camp Manitou’s first newsletter was met with an overwhelmingly positive response. Most notably, it helped propel the Voyageur House Capital Fundraising Campaign past the $60,000 mark—an encouraging sign of shared commitment to the future of the camp.
Donors remain the lifeline of this ministry. Camp Manitou is now inviting supporters to consider becoming monthly donors, a steady form of giving that helps sustain operations and long-term planning throughout the year.
Honouring a Faithful Servant
This season also brings a moment of remembrance. The Camp Manitou community is mourning the passing of Sheila Mary Seddon Cole, a long-time volunteer and devoted supporter of the camp. Sheila’s love for Camp Manitou was evident in her years of service, which allowed countless others to experience the camp as she did. The community extends heartfelt condolences to her family and friends, and her legacy of generosity remains deeply woven into the life of the camp.
Leadership Transitions and Invitations
After many years of faithful service, Gen Taylor will be stepping down from her role as Director of Family Camp 1. Since 2017, Gen has offered countless hours of leadership—preparing for camp, staffing the kitchen, managing logistics, and ensuring a welcoming, well-run experience for families.
Camp Manitou is now inviting expressions of interest from those who may feel called to step into this important volunteer leadership role.

Caring for Place and Preparing for Summer
Practical work continues alongside program planning. Over the May long weekend (May 15–18), volunteers will gather to install a new roof on Voyageur House, with professional support from Brock Construction. Volunteers of all skill levels are welcome, whether assisting with grounds work, clean-up, cooking, or general support.
Looking ahead, registrations for the 2026 season will open in March, with pricing remaining the same as 2025. The full summer schedule is already set, offering programming for children, youth, families, and leadership development across July and August.
A Living Ministry
Camp Manitou is more than a place—it is a community shaped by faith, service, and shared memory. From capital projects to quiet acts of generosity, its ministry continues because people show up, give back, and carry its story forward.
