Archbishop Anne Germond is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2025 Diocese of Algoma Certificates of Appreciation, recognizing faithful lay leaders from across our Diocese whose ministry, dedication, and quiet acts of service strengthen the life of the Church in every community we serve.

Presented annually around Reign of Christ Sunday, these certificates offer a moment of joyful thanksgiving—an opportunity to honour the many parishioners whose gifts of time, talent, and compassion make ministry possible in the parishes, missions, and outreach ministries of Algoma.

In her pastoral letter to incumbents, Archbishop Anne wrote of her “deep gratitude for the many faithful disciples across our beloved Diocese who offer their time, talent, and treasure to the glory of God and the building up of God’s kingdom here on earth.” She reflected on the countless ways lay leaders serve: caring for buildings and grounds, assisting in worship, supporting outreach, preparing meals, stewarding finances, visiting the sick, accompanying newcomers, and offering hospitality and hope in Christ’s name.

The Archbishop also drew our attention to our diocesan motto for 2025—“With joy we shall draw water from the living wells of life” (Isaiah 12:3)—reminding us that all ministry is sustained by God’s abundant grace. The faithful service of this year’s recipients is a clear sign of that deep wellspring at work in our communities.

Some honourees have already been celebrated in their home parishes, and others will receive their certificates in the coming weeks. The full list of the 2025 Certificate of Appreciation recipients is available here: DOWNLOAD NOW.

Archbishop Anne extends her warmest congratulations to each recipient, offering thanks for their witness and their joy in service:

“Your faithfulness is a sign of God’s kingdom unfolding in our midst. May you continue to find refreshment in the wellspring of Christ’s love, and may that joy overflow into every corner of your life and ministry.”

We invite the Diocese to join in prayerful thanksgiving for all those who have been recognized this year, giving thanks for the many lay leaders who embody “faith in action” in our parishes and beyond.
