We are pleased to share that two clergy with roots in the Diocese of Algoma were named Canons of the Diocese of Toronto at its biennial Synod this past weekend.
The Rev. Canon Patrick McManus and The Rev. Canon Pamela Rayment were among those appointed by Bishop Andrew Asbil, who recognized their faithful leadership and significant contributions to the life of the Church.
Canon Pamela Rayment currently serves at St. Clement’s, Eglinton, where she is Associate Incumbent and Regional Dean for Eglinton. Her appointment acknowledges her dedicated parish ministry, her commitment to diocesan leadership, and her work supporting the Cast the Net initiative.
Canon Patrick McManus serves as Rector of All Saints, Kingsway, and as adjunct faculty at Wycliffe College. Prior to his ministry in Toronto, he served with distinction in the Diocese of Algoma, sharing his passion for teaching, discipleship, and pastoral care.
Archbishop Anne Germond offered her warm congratulations, saying:
“On behalf of the Diocese of Algoma, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to Canon Pamela Rayment and Canon Patrick McManus on this well-deserved honour. We give thanks for the gifts they offered during their time in Algoma and rejoice that their ministries continue to flourish. Their appointments are a testament to their faithful service, compassionate leadership, and deep commitment to the Gospel. We celebrate with them and commend them to your prayers.”
We join Archbishop Anne in giving thanks for Canon Rayment and Canon McManus and celebrate this recognition of their ongoing service to God’s Church.
