The Diocese of Algoma unveils a restored Coat of Arms and a new family of logos, bringing clarity, consistency, and renewed life to a historic emblem for contemporary ministry.

The Diocese of Algoma is pleased to announce the launch of a renewed Diocesan Coat of Arms and a new family of official logos that will help strengthen and unify diocesan communications in the years ahead.

The project began with a practical challenge. Over time, the original digital rendering of the Diocesan Coat of Arms had been lost, leaving the Diocese to rely on a low-resolution image that no longer met the needs of modern communication platforms.

Rather than simply replace what had been lost, the Diocese saw an opportunity to renew a treasured symbol and build a stronger visual identity for contemporary ministry.

The restored Coat of Arms has been professionally redrawn by Quentin Peacock, a heraldic artist based in Royston, Hertfordshire, whose work specializes in high-quality vector heraldry for ecclesiastical and institutional use. Quentin has also assisted the Diocese of Ontario with the refresh of their own heraldic assets.

Reflecting on the work, Quentin shared:

“It was an honour to be asked to digitally illustrate the Coat of Arms for the Diocese of Algoma and to work with this elegant design. It was a challenge to try to improve the hand-painted artwork from the Grant of Arms, particularly in balancing the crossed key and crozier. I wanted to deepen the colour palette to keep the artwork grounded, while still achieving balance by revealing more of the deep red on the reverse of the infulae. I am incredibly pleased with the final outcome, and I hope that it serves the Diocese of Algoma for many years.”

The result is a faithful restoration of the historic arms in a format that can now be used clearly and consistently across websites, publications, signage, presentations, social media, worship resources, and future diocesan initiatives.

Alongside the renewed Coat of Arms, the Diocese is introducing a coordinated family of logos derived from the same heraldic foundation. These marks will provide a more consistent and recognizable presence across diocesan ministries, events, communications, and public-facing materials.

This work is part of a broader commitment to clear communication, professional excellence, and a confident public witness rooted in the Diocese’s Anglican identity.

The Diocese extends sincere thanks to Quentin Peacock for his craftsmanship and generous collaboration in bringing this historic symbol into a new season of life.
