Praying for Algoma Deanery Councils This Fall
As autumn unfolds across Algoma, our five deanery councils are gathering once again for their fall meetings — times of prayer, collaboration, and discernment about the life and mission of the Church in each region.
Every fall, clergy and lay representatives from across the diocese come together at the deanery level to share stories, support one another, and strengthen the bonds that hold our diocesan family together. These meetings are vital spaces for listening, coordination, and encouragement — the work of the Church “being together,” as Archbishop Anne reminded us in her Charge to Synod this spring.
“We stay together by the spiritual practice of being together,” Archbishop Anne said. “When we gather in our deaneries, we’re reminded that our life in Christ is shared — and that our ministry is stronger when we draw from the wisdom and experiences of one another.”
This month, as deanery councils meet in Algoma, Muskoka, Sudbury–Manitoulin, Temiskaming, and Thunder Bay–North Shore, we hold all who serve in prayer — especially those who chair, minute, cook, clean up, and keep things running behind the scenes.
Please join us in giving thanks for the faithful ministry of our deanery councils — for their leadership, their laughter, their willingness to ask good questions, and their commitment to helping our parishes walk together as Algoma’s living waters continue to flow.
