The Diocese of Algoma invites parishes and individuals to take part in the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, observed from January 19 to 23.
This year’s observance will include a joint online service, held in partnership with The Most Reverend Thomas Dowd, Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Sault Ste. Marie, and the Order of St. Lazarus. Details for the service, including the date and access information, will be shared once confirmed.
The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity is a long-standing global observance that calls Christians across traditions to pray together for unity, reconciliation, and faithfulness to Christ. Rooted in scripture and shared worship, the week reminds us that unity is both a gift from God and a calling we are invited to live into with humility and hope.
We encourage parishes across Algoma to mark this week in their calendars and to participate as they are able. Further information about the online service will be shared through diocesan communications as soon as details are finalized.
