Weekly gathering invites participants into silence, stillness, and prayer

A new Christian Meditation Group will begin this June at St. Joseph Motherhouse in North Bay, offering a welcoming space for prayer, reflection, and contemplative silence.

Meeting Tuesdays from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. in the small chapel at St. Joseph Motherhouse, the group follows the tradition of Christian meditation inspired by the teachings of John Main, a Benedictine monk whose work helped renew contemplative practice within the Christian tradition.

Christian meditation is often described as “a prayer of the heart.” Through the gentle repetition of a sacred word or phrase — sometimes called a mantra — participants are invited into silence, stillness, simplicity, and a deeper awareness of God’s presence.

Each weekly gathering will include:

· A short teaching based on the writings of John Main

· A period of silent meditation

· Time for brief discussion and reflection

The group is open to everyone, and no previous meditation experience is required. Organizers emphasize that participants are welcome to come whenever they are able.

The meditation group will meet at:

St. Joseph Motherhouse

2025 Main St. West North Bay, Ontario (in the small chapel)

Tuesdays, 4:30–5:30 p.m.

Beginning June 2
