Seasons & Saints – November 13

As the Christian year draws to a close, Rev. Susan Montague Koyle reflects on the meaning of The Reign of Christ, the final Sunday of the Season after Pentecost. She explores why we hear the crucifixion story on a day that proclaims Christ as King, and how God’s kingdom overturns every human idea of power, victory, and rule.
Seasons & Saints, November 6

This week, Rev. Susan Montague-Koyle explores the joyful side of orthodoxy — literally, “true worship.” Drawing on the ancient principle lex orandi, lex credendi (“the law of prayer is the law of faith”), she reminds us that what and how we pray shapes what we believe. Our Sunday Eucharist, she says, is nothing less than a “victory party with Jesus” — a feast filled with joy.

As Remembrance Day approaches, Rev. Susan Montague-Koyle helps us understand how to honour this solemn occasion within our Anglican tradition. Learn what belongs in a Sunday worship service — and what does not — and why remembering the fallen must always take place within the context of the Church’s ongoing prayer and thanksgiving.
